One of the biggest calendar events in the pin-up and vintage year is the Very Vintage Day Out. It is a whole weekend dedicated to vintage cars, shopping, amazing food, high-tea, pin-up competition and to top it off an evening ball.
The amount of effort everyone puts into this weekend is amazing and you can definitely notice how polished everyone is, how amazing the stalls look and how shiny the cars are.
The high tea (hosted by the Heritage Hotel Auckland) was our highlight of the day. The tea was devine (and something we really needed at the time) in vintage tea cups. The sandwiches and cakes were amazing and really hit the spot at just the right time. I can also say their scones were to die for. I enjoyed it so much, I really want to do it all again!
There were plenty of stalls to shop to your vintage hearts content. I managed to pick up some delightful items along with a cherry doughnut from Doornuts, and I must say the cherry pie was calling for me.
The dresses below are some of our favorites from the sewing competition that was running through the weekend.
19 Black’s Miss Pinup NZ is the biggest annual pinup competition on the NZ calendar. This year was host to an amazing line up of diverse contestants that showed off their amazing outfits, interesting talents and just general awesomeness.
It’s always a pleasure to watch the contestants perform and show their fearlessness on the stage. (especially Kikikisses who did a burlesque routine as a monkey! What a way to keep it family friendly!)
We are so proud and happy for everyone that participated, you all did so well! Congrats to Kikikisses for winning! Can’t wait to see what happens this year!
We cannot wait to see how the day turns out next year as we thoroughly enjoyed this one! You never know, we might even attend one of the sewing classes!
